Girl, 4, attacked by dog recovering at home after surgery

FOUR-YEAR-OLD Hannah Salt could be scarred for life after she was attacked by a dog in a friend's living room.
The youngster was feeding two-year-old German Shepherd Rocky when the dog suddenly turned and bit her on the face, leaving her with multiple wounds.
The youngster and her mum, Vanessa Salt, were visiting a friend in Gilliat Place, Bentilee, on Sunday, at 4.35pm.
The dog bit her above her left eyebrow down to the bone and remained on top of the tot until being pulled off.
Vanessa, aged 36, of Dividy Road, Bentilee, said: "My friend and I were in the living room in the flat talking and my little girl was on the sofa.
"I gave the dog chews to Hannah and the next thing I knew the dog was on top of her biting her.
"Hannah was screaming that she wanted to go home."
Hannah spent Sunday night in hospital and underwent two-and-a-half hours of surgery.
The dog has since been destroyed on police orders.
Hannah, who will start at Eaton Park Primary School in September, suffered nerve damage above her eyebrow, but was lucky to escape any damage to her vision.
Vanessa said: "You don't expect a dog to just turn like that. It attacked Hannah and bit her on the eye right down to the bone.
"Her face is full of stitches now and swollen. I want to get a message out to parents that they need to watch their dogs closely.
"There's no damage to her eyes, so she's been very lucky."
Hannah was due to revisit the hospital today, so doctors can assess her rate of healing.
Vanessa said: "She might have to have further surgery later, depending on how she goes.
"I don't blame the owner, but parents need to keep a close eye on where little children are.
"Hannah says she doesn't like big dogs now. There's a chance the dog has scarred her for life."
Irene Shepherd, Hannah's grandmother, said Hannah had always got on well with her Staffordshire bull terrier, Tilly.
The 53-year-old, of Dividy Road, Bentilee, said: "When I got there, the wound on her forehead was wide open exposing the bone. It was frightening.
"Hannah has always got on with our dog. She seems happy enough in herself now, but her face is a mess.
"I couldn't blame the owner of the dog, he's feeling guilty and he's got grandchildren of his own."
Following the attack, the dog was taken by police to an approved kennel. He was put down on Tuesday.
A police spokesman said: "No charges will be brought against the owner of the dog."

PERVERT Mathew Sutton, who distributed indecent images of children, has avoided a jail sentence.
The 26-year-old was arrested following the arrest of another man in Newcastle. The other man's phone was found to contain indecent images.
Prosecutor Paul Spratt yesterday told Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court a further examination of the phone revealed sexually explicit messages which led police to Sutton.
The defendant was arrested on January 30 last year and two phones were recovered which contained a substantial number of images at all levels of seriousness. Police also recovered 17 images of an extreme pornographic nature.
Sutton, of Chelmsford Drive, Bentilee, pleaded guilty to 18 charges of making indecent photographs of children; two charges of distributing an indecent photograph of a child and one charge of possessing extreme pornographic images.
Jason Holt, mitigating, said Sutton has lost his good character.
Judge Paul Glenn sentenced Sutton to a three year community order with three years' supervision. He must attend the community sex offenders' group programme and complete 160 hours' unpaid work. And he will be on the sex offenders' register for five years.

Bentilee residents made to pay for losing valuble service

Has anyone else seen through the  lies and  deceipt of the labour council who have closed the willfield centre on bentilee depriving the residents of a vital health and fitness centre as well as a swimming pool and countless classes. After depriving us of this needed facility they still need to take out a loan of 35million pounds to pay for the new schools that were not actually needed or wanted by the population of stoke on trent.Who has to pay this loan the council tax payers.
You the council tax payers of Bentilee not only have to be well and truly shafted by your local council and councillors, but you will also have to pay for unwanted services elsewhere.
This is what you voted for,

millions in cuts now council must find another 35 million

THE Government has confirmed it is handing Stoke-on-Trent a £206 million grant to rebuild or refurbish schools as work starts on more than half the affected sites.
Pupils and teachers will begin seeing dramatic classroom improvements over the next year, with all the high school and special school building schemes set to be completed by 2014.
But it emerged today the deal includes making Stoke-on-Trent City Council pay £55 million towards the overall cost of the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme.
This will be made up of money from the sale of council-owned sites, including schools which are being shut down.
But up to £35 million of this will need to be borrowed and paid back in instalments.
It could heap more pressure on the local authority's already overstretched resource

SO another 35 million to be found can someone please explain how they can fund this oh yes make the people of stoke on trent suffer even more.

be aware of a computer scam doing the rounds

Home computer users in the Staffordshire area have been targeted
by a series of phone scams that try and convince the intended victim
that there is a problem with their computer and to give them access to
it so they can help.
Of course once they have gained access to the computer they
attempt to perform malicious acts and theft of private data and finical
information.
Staffordshire based I.T company DataWreck Data Recover's in house
security staff have examined three computers that have attempted to be
compromised and the risk is quite severe.
The callers falsely claim they are phoning from software
manufactures Microsoft whom created the Windows operating system. They
then inform you that they have detected a security problem with your
system and direct you to download some software to help them access your
computer and fix it.
This software is legitimate remote access software and thus does
not trigger any antivirus software that may be installed on the users
system. Once this is completed the scammers then can connect to the
computer and proceed to disable all security features as if they were
sitting in front of your computer.
Once this is done the scammers can download anything they want to your system and see what you are doing.
Joe Coll, a computer technician at DataWreck commented "It is
highly irregular to receive a call from Microsoft and no action should
be taken under the advice of these people. Instead hang up the phone
and call Microsoft directly to confirm. If you have carried out any of
the instructions they have given, stop using your computer immediately
and take it a computer security expert. It may also be advisable to
contact your bank to inform them you may have been a victim of computer
fraud".

Your council and local councillors do not give a damm about you. Why would they they will not suffer they dont live on the estate. What suggestions do they have go to fenton or abbey hulton.Oh great in an age where there are no jobs and the great people of Bentilee are just trying to survive they now have to pay even more in public transport costs to try and improve there health. There are a lot of people on Bentilee who suffer from depression and one of the best anti depressents is exercise,so one can only assume that the council and your local councillors do not care.
